Abraysports FC held by Wonderxchange FC in thrilling 1-1 draw

Abraysports FC and Wonderxchange FC played out an exciting 1-1 draw at the Kwara Football Academy Pitch A, with both teams creating chances but ultimately sharing the spoils.

Early Opportunities

The match got off to a flying start, with Mighty Aderibigbe hitting the woodwork in the first minute, off a tidy cross from Sunkanmi Adeyeye. Abraysports FC took the lead soon after against the run of play capitalizing on an own goal by Samson Adegbite.

 

Lions Fight Back

Undeterred by the setback, The Lions continued to push hard to get back into the game, with Mighty Aderibigbe going close again in the 19th minute but his effort sailed over the cross bar. The equalizer finally came in the 33rd minute, with Sunkanmi Adeyeye poking home a tidy cross from Mighty.

Penalty Miss

Just before halftime, Wonderxchange FC were awarded a penalty after a handball in the box was rightly spotted by the referee, but Mighty Aderibigbe’s effort from the spot was saved by the goalkeeper to keep the scoreline tied with a goal apiece.

Second Half

The second half saw both teams create chances, with Samson Adegbite receiving a yellow card in the 55th minute. Wonderxchange FC had series of chances to take the lead and dictated play nicely but could just not find the back of the net. The Lions had another penalty shout waved away as a defender handled the ball in the 75th minute. The gaffer made two substitutions in the 80th minute, bringing on Musa Hassan and Dotun Olafisoye for Sunkanmi Adeyeye and Oluwatobi Michael respectively to continue mount more pressure for a winner. Despite late pressure from Wonderxchange FC, the match ended 1-1, with both teams earning a point.
