Lions impress in scouting program opener as Chinedu bags brace
The selection

Selections were made across both the A and B teams for the game as both gaffers put up a combined XI.

Emmanuel Yakubu got the nod in goal, Seun Ojo, Lekan Ajeyomi, and Bonny Akingbade in defense, Omolade Ibitayo and Micheal Akpovie from both wingback positions while Afolabi Adeyina started at the base of midfield, Melody Terdoo was the man called on to start in attacking midfield while Opeyemi Ogundumila, Amaechi Sunday and Chinedu Okorie all make up a front three.

Dominated from KO

Due to a delay in kickoff, time had to be maximized as 30 minutes was played in each half.

The Lions settled into the game earlier and could have taken the lead as early as in the 4th minute but Chinedu’s strike was deflected for a corner kick with Omolade shooting over the bar from the corner kick.

The breakthrough was however not far-fetched as Chinedu pressed and forced the defense line into making a mistake which was utilized by Omolade Ibitayo who won the ball and found the back of the net for the opener in the 10th minute.

Skipper Lekan Ajeyomi made a goal-line clearance in the 23 led minute to make sure we head into the break with the lead.

3 to the good

The Gaffer made 5 changes at the break and still maintained the momentum and pulled the game away from the opponent in the 55th minute when Chinedu pounced on a defensive error to open his account for the day and went on to seal a brace off a brilliant assist by Oluwatobi Dahunsi who dazzled his way past two defenders before laying a pass to Chinedu to finish off and round of a perfect evening for the boys.
