Coach Olayiwola called on Joseph Ekeocha to be in goal giving a rest to Emmanuel Yakubu who only started from the bench.

Ojo Seun also got to start from the bench as Samson Adegbite got a nod to start with Lekan Ajeyomi and Sunday Emmanuel in defense.

Holding midfielder Afolabi Adeyina who just recovered from a sprained ankle made his return as he was named on the reserve. Adedayo Adeyemi continued to fill in at the base of the midfield with Melody Terdoo in attacking midfield.

The trio of Tobi Dahunsi, Sunday Amaechi and Chinedu Okorie started upfront.

The game came to life almost immediately it kicked off with both sides showing zeal and enthusiasm right from the start by creating quite a number of chances.

The Lions however took control later on and it paid off in the 35th minute through a beautiful team goal built up from the back and finished off nicely by Chinedu Okorie off a fine assist by Amaechi Sunday to end the first half with the lions ahead.

Disappointing end

The host were the better side in the first 15 minutes after the restart but couldn’t make it count.

The Lions had the chance to make it 2 nil and seal the victory in the 65th minute but Chinedu miscued just in front of goal.

The opponent however found their way back into the game after Sunday Emmanuel was adjudged to have brought his man down in the box and getting his second booking of the day before being shown his exit with the barrack boys converting from the spot to end the encounter with shared spoils.

What’s next

With qualification beyond reach, the Lions will now have the last game to play just for redemption.
