Hard-earned victory for Lions in a nine goal-thriller

The gaffer made four changes to the side that thumped Excellence FC yesterday with young goalkeeper Micheal Adeniyi replacing Tope Otaki, Olayemi Bello coming in for Abednego Lewey, Crespo Victor replacing Joseph Ajor while Oloore Akinbola came in for Emeka Okorie.

The selection

The Lions against the run of play in the first 25 minutes found themselves trailing by 2 goals already through two costly errors by Micheal in goal.

The Lions however unperturbed by the setback appeared to continue to give it their all, an effort which paid off in the 28th minute through Musa Hassan with a well taken strike inside the opposition’s area.

Parity was restored in the 35th minute when Amaechi Sunday had an effort from a dead ball spilled by the goalkeeper. This was followed by Samson Adegbite reacting quickly to poke it home and make the score even.

The visitors however pushed on to get their third goal of the day through a very nice team goal to head into the break with a deserved lead.

Melody the Super Sub

With 7 changes made at the break, the Lions drew level once again in the 57th minute through Melody Terdoo after Chinedu’s initial effort was kept out by the goalkeeper with the ball bouncing back to the feet of Melody to fire home and make it 3-3.

It was once again the visitors who found themselves ahead in the 66th minute through a counterattack which was finished well.

All determined to claim victory, the Lions drew level again in the 87th minute through Melody. He went on to win it for the Lions just at the death to get his third goal of the day and win it for the Lions.

The Lions will face up against Rock Crystal Soccer Academy tomorrow in another friendly contest at 10:00am.am
