A season to forget for the Lions; Team to regroup for tasks ahead.
The selection
Emmanuel Yakubu remained in goal while Akpovie Micheal returned from illness and got back into the starting lineup. Ibitayo Omolade retained his spot.
The back three of Ojo Seun, Ajeyomi Lekan and Sunday Emmanuel remained unchanged. The midfield had some changes with Afolabi Daniel and Dahunsi Tobi back to the lineup to join Haruna Yusuf.
Energetic attacker Chinedu Okorie joinsed ever present Thomas Mathias upfront.
Despite showing better zeal and spirit than yesterday’s disappointing display, the team gave their all and fought all through today’s game and could have snatched the much needed victory but allowed the opponent to clap back at the 75th minute after a scramble in our box and miscommunication from the goalkeeper and defenders. We went ahead at the stroke of halftime through Chinedu Okorie which turned out to be our first goal of the tournament.
They further pressed and fought for a win towards the end of the game but the opponent stood tall and defended well.
