Forwards Oyekola Samuel and Olanrewaju Abimbola, who teamed up with the lions last weekend on a trial basis and have been continually accessed in training by the coaches since their arrival, were given a chance to show their worth earlier today when the B side hosted Morning Star FA from Ekiti in a friendly contest.

Both forwards were named in the starting lineup for the contest, with Oyekola Samuel starting on the right wing while Olanrewaju Abimbola partnered  Ogundumila Opeyemi upfront in the attack.

As revealed by Coach Gbenga Ologun, naming both players in the lineup was to be able to access them based on an actual match test different from the training exercises they’ve participated in since their arrival.

The duo, however, wasted no time in announcing themselves as they both went on to combine to pull one back for the lions after the lions had been made to trail behind by two quick-fire goals scored early in the game by the visitors. Olanrewaju Abimbola sent in a teasing cross from a deadball outside the opponent’s box, which was met by a nice tap by Oyekola Samuel, who guided the ball into the net past the goalkeeper. In contrast, Olanrewaju Abimbola scored the equalizer with a screamer in the 57th minute when he took a left curling effort from distance which rocketed past the helpless goalkeeper, who stood rooted to his spot and could have done nothing to stop the effort.  Apart from the goals, they were both a constant thorn in the flesh of the opposition’s defense, and the duo’s performance would no doubt be enough to convince the team management to welcome them fully into the fold with open arms.
