Lackluster Performance ended in a disappointing defeat

With the injured And in-form GK Peter Igbehin out injured, Tope Otaki was recalled to be in goal. Coach Gbenga who seems to be reverting to a 3-5-2 formation in recent test games opted for the same formation with the trio of Bonny, Romeo, and Victor occupying the back three, Fisayo and Osasu from both wingback positions, Haruna Yusuf and Segun Emmanuel in defensive midfield, Olayemi Bello in attacking midfield while the duo of Niyi Oladimeji and Opeyemi Ogundumila partnered up front.
Two down so early
The most disappointing first half since the inception of the B team was witnessed as the team was already two goals behind in the first 14 minutes, much to the disbelief of everyone as both goals were conceded with the defense line in no man’s land. The host went on to go 3-goals up in the 33rd minute before Opeyemi Ogundumila pulled one back with a superb finish off an assist by Osasu Sunday. Opeyemi could have made it 2 for us just before the halftime break, but the goalkeeper pulled off a great save to deny his effort to end the first half.
Underwhelming
Coming out for the restart, With the coach’s halftime team talk fresh in their minds, the B-lions were awarded a penalty after Opeyemi was fouled in the box, but Ilesanmi Fisayo fired wide from the resultant kick.
With fresh legs brought into the fray, the boys kept pushing to get more from the game by putting pressure on the opponent, but the goalkeeper and defense line kept all efforts at bay to frustrate all our attacking threats before the host set the game beyond reach in the 89th minute to end the encounter with a massive win for them.

Training resumes tomorrow, Wednesday, to continue preparations for the tasks ahead.
