Lions run riot to seal an emphatic win and start August on a high note.

The gaffer made few changes to his lineup by bringing in Onome Adepoju to start from right wing back, Afolabi also made a return to the starting lineup after missing few games, in form Akinbola Oloore got the nod in midfield while Hassan Musa started upfront for the first time in a while partnered by Okorie Chinedu.

First half

The boys started the match on the front foot right from kickoff and retained the majority of the ball possession by dictating play with beautiful exchange of passes and that paid off in the 10th minute as Hassan Musa planted a flying header past the goalkeeper off a cross from Dahunsi Tobi to give us the lead.

The visitors however grew into the game to create few chances of their own but just couldn’t find the needed finishing touch.

The Lions nevertheless went on to get the second of the day after Ibitayo Omolade was brought down in the 18-yard box with Okorie Chinedu stepping up to convert from the spot. Almost a replica of the same incident happened in the 29th minute but this time it was Okorie Chinedu that was fouled in the box while Dahunsi Tobi took up the responsibility and fired the ball into the middle of the net.

Wing back Onome Adepoju came close to getting us the fourth of the day in the 32nd minute but his effort rattled the crossbar with the visitors almost pulling one back in the 37th minute but the effort was also smashed against the crossbar. The 4th goal came on the stroke of halftime through Dahunsi Tobi to get his brace after finishing off a brilliant counter attack by the team

Second half

The Lions continued from where they stopped after the restart and could have gotten the 5th goal just 6 minutes after the restart when Ibitayo Omolade sent a cool square pass into the box which was met by a header from Ojo Seun but went over the crossbar.

The 5th however came in the 55th minute when Onome Adepoju sent a teasing cross into the opponent’s box which was met by a fine header by Okorie Chinedu for his brace. Dahunsi Tobi got his deserved hat trick in the 76th minute when Olayemi Bello sent him through on goal with a well placed pass to seal the big win for the lions.

What’s next

The boys will take a rest tomorrow and regroup on Saturday to continue their preparations for the fast approaching Ondo state Bet9ja league.
