Femi Adegboye, Sunday Adebayo, Olaniyi Ajogbeje, Gbenga Adeyemo, and Timileyin Adetifa are the first set of nominees revealed for the 2022 Wonderxchange Men’s Player of the Year award.

The winner will be named – along with the Wonderxchange Goalkeeper of the Year, Wonderxchange Defender of the Year, Wonderxchange Midfielder of the Year, Wonderxchange Forward of the Year, Wonderxchange Coach of the Year and Wonderxchange Men’s Player of the Year – during the 2022 End of year award ceremony in Akure on Friday 16 December.

Femi Adegboye (Wonderxchange U13/Forward)

The young forward despite operating mainly on the right wing has found the back of the net 8 times in 13 competitive matches. He is one of the key players in the U13 squad’s attack.

Sunday Adebayo (Wonderxchange U17/Goalkeeper)

The U17 shot stopper has been really reliable in goal this year. He has kept 15 clean sheets in 26 matches and conceded a total of 17 goals when his side couldn’t keep a clean sheet.

Olaniyi Ajogbeje (Wonderxchange U17/ Defender)

The right back is known for his ability to put crosses into the opposition’s yards from the right flank and has 12 assists and 9 goals to his name.

Gbenga Adeyemo ( Wonderxchange U15/ Defender)

Gbenga is a promising lad who can play both in central defence and defensive midfield. He has been rock solid for the U15 side who have not lost any competitive game this year. He also has 4 goals to his name.

Timileyin Adetifa (Wonderxchange U13/ Goalkeeper)

The U13 shot stopper has been impressive in goal for his side and has kept 6 clean sheets in 14 appearances conceding just 7 goals in all.

Mathias Isaac (Wonderxchange U17/ Forward)

The U17 frontman has been in lethal form and has found the back of the net 13 times in just 18 games, assisting 5 times in the process.

Faith Alade (Wonderxchange U17/ Forward)

Faith has proven to be a finisher and also proven his worth as a very creative talisman for the U17 side. He has double digits of goals and assists to his name.

He has scored 10 goals as well as assisted 12 goals for his teammates.

Femi Olofinjana (Wonderxchange U17/ Midfielder)

Femi is an all-round perfectionist in the middle of the park. He excels both as a central midfielder and a defensive midfielder. He’s well known for his ability to execute passes across the pitch without any hitches.

Samuel Bamgboye (Wonderxchange U15/ Midfielder)

A promising creative midfielder who also has eyes for goals.

Samuel has provided 7 assists and also scored a whopping 12 goals for the U15 side.

Chukwudi Joseph (Wonderxchange U15/ Midfielder)

The young lad is a key member in the midfield for the U-15 side and his prominence and resilience in midfield made sure his side remained unbeaten in all competitive games played throughout the year.

Olamilekan Arifayan (Wonderxchange U17/ Forward)

The prolific forward and a very strong contender for the award is the top scorer for the U17 side. He scored a massive 23 goals over 24 matches with almost a goal per match ratio. He also has 8 assists to his name.

His fine form for the year also saw him make the final selection list for the Seyi Olofinjana scouting program held in September. Olamilekan is definitely one to watch out for in the future.

Omotayo Ayodele (Wonderxchange U17/ Defender)

The lanky defender has been a key figure in the U17 side and has put in a series of brilliant displays at the back.

His resilient performance at the back saw his side lose just 6 times in 29 games and he has also found the back of the net 5 times.

Ayomide Ojuifun (Wonderxchange U17/ Defender)

Ayomide is the highest scoring defender in the side with an impressive 13 goals scored by the central defender. This is in addition to his series of impressive displays at the heart of defence for the U17 side.

Temitayo Ojo (Wonderxchange U13/Defender)

The young central defender turns up when the need arises and is a key figure in defense for his side. His side have lost only 2 of the 15 matches he has featured in.

Sunday Oluyeye (Wonderxchange U15/ Forward)

Throughout the year, the dynamic midfielder has been impressive, as evidenced by his 7 goals and 5 assists.

What is the Wonderxchange Young Player of the Year award?

The award is given to players representing Wonderxchange Academy in the U17,U15 & U13 category based on their performance over the entire year throughout all competitions including scouting competitions.

How were the players shortlisted/ How to vote

Every player in the team was initially selected and shortlisted. The top fifteen nominees for the Wonderxchange Young Player of the year award were voted for by the Club’s management panel after their outstanding performances during the year 2022.

Fans will be able to vote for their favorite player via the Wonderxchange FC website until 00:00 GMT on Wednesday 14 December.
